Counselling for Teens

A safe space for young people aged 11 -18 to work through any challenges or difficulties they may be facing

Why Counselling?

Being a teenager can be a fun and exciting time however it also comes with transitions, pressure and challenges. Expectations are high at a time when we are really figuring out who we are and who we want to be in the world. In recent years, social media and the online world have added a whole new dimension to living as a teen in the modern world.

Please know if you are struggling or you are the parent/carer of a teen who is experiencing difficulties, you are not alone. Accessing counselling during the teenage years can provide a space to safely explore these challenges and who you are, without fear of judgement or additional pressure. The counselling room is a space where you can experience autonomy and take the lead in exploring the issues that are key to you, free from adult expectation.

My therapeutic approach

My work with teenagers combines creative methods with traditional talking therapy, depending on the client in the room. For some, talking about their challenges can be really difficult so utilising art, sand or music for example can really aid with self expression. For others, a safe space to talk and explore feelings and thoughts where there is no fear of getting it wrong can be really important in unpacking what feels overwhelming. For other clients, a combination of approaches works.

I believe that you are the expert in your own story and so my work is always led by the client.
